doodles aka doo - dats

I enjoy making these small motifs.  I usually tat a doodle before launching a tatted motif.   In addition to a Tatting Board, I started a Pinterest Board of My Tatted Doodles.    Sheron created an excel spreadsheet of doodle patterns - link can be found from this post.   Acorn, Angel, Basket, Bat, Bear, Bee, Bell, Bird, Bug, Butterfly ... you get the idea.    Oodles of Doodles.

I like to tat a butterfly with four tatted rings, picots.    Once memorized, can tat them quickly.  Link here to my EZ free patterns.    With a few beads on hand, can bling up the butterfly - link HERE.

Are you wondering what I do with them?    I give them away.

Some are given to Lafayette Lacemakers & used at Lace Demo events.

Some are given to Palmetto Tatters for sharing at the SC State Fair.

I have one or two on pincushions.    I send them to friends.    One friend had a butterfly I sent her put in a nice necklace & she gave it back to me!    Link here.

Pat Winter added a little butterfly to her award winning heart.    Link here.

Sweet embellishments ; )

Some made for fundraising:

Tat Days - Scholarship Fund.     Check out what happens when oodles of doodles are used for beautiful textile art with the purpose of furthering instruction of tatting and improving skills.    And, while you are on the web page, consider a donation or submitting a scholarship application.

Some made for annual dues:

Annual heart doodle sent to the Fringe.
From the Fringe Element Tatters web page:     "It’s easy to become a member of “The Fringe”.
Just send us a completed Membership Form and your membership ”fee” – a minimum of one tatterd heart per year.  We gratefully accept more."
